10 Reasons No One Cares About Xbox One & PS4 Next Gen Consoles

8. The Names

For many, the tension-filled few moments where ex-Xbox man Don Mattrick teased the name of the new console only to be utterly deflated when unveiling the 'Xbox One', was all it took to leave a taste so sour that no potentially mouthwatering motion-tracking ideas could remove it. Then you have the ever-present adage of 'sequelitus', as not only does it apply to films and games, but apparently consoles too. There's something about going outside of a trilogy that feels elongated and makes people demand that little bit more from whatever the property in question is. As soon as it was revealed that PS4 was using the same typeface as the second generation PS3's (Goodbye forever, Spider-Man font!), it ushered in a subtle-yet-stickling sense of laziness. Granted there was no way Sony was going to ditch the Playstation branding, nor should they, but to come out the gate with what barely looked like any iteration on the PS3's hardware aesthetic, instead returning to the heyday of the PS2 font, didn't exactly spell out 'here's to the future, you're comin' with us!' more than it said 'we have no idea what you guys want, so here's some memories for ya!'
