10 Reasons Why The Original Dungeon Keeper Is Still Devilishly Awesome

6. Born From The Mind Of Peter Molyneux

Whilst he may now have a reputation for over-promising and under-delivering with some of the games he has helmed, back in the glory days when he co-founded Bullfrog Productions Ltd he could do no wrong. A bastion of awesomeness in the infancy of gaming. After a series of different iterations, the last two years of development would primarily be developed in his own home with his own trusty minions in the form of Simon and Dene Carter, Mark Healey and Jonty Barnes to name but a few. Tinkering away with primitive and at times uncharted technology to produce something unique and innovative, surviving personal death-threats and some animosity between colleagues (see the Bile Demon reference on the page previous) resulted in a resounding success for the title that would be shipped. Upon leaving Bullfrog with the contentment of going out with such a bang that is Dungeon Keeper, Peter would then form Lionhead Studios and go on to design games such as Black & White and the Fable franchise. All of these games having a fragment of Dungeon Keeper's influence woven into them. He may have a knack for getting over-excited when it comes to discussing his games, but Dungeon Keeper never fell victim to his enthusiasm. He has been in the press recently for vocalising how 'ridiculous' the micro-transaction aspect of the franchises reboot actually is. It must be difficult to have birthed the original game and see it being used so haphazardly for the entertainment of the mobile gaming industry.
