10 Reasons Persona 5 Is Already A Game Of The Year Contender

2. The Soundtrack Is Incredible

The soundtrack of Persona 5 is amazing, which at this stage, is unsurprising for a Atlus game.

Persona 5 has a jazzy, pop feel throughout the different environments and locations, making the somewhat dark and disturbing themes found in the world feel much lighter. The music often makes the tone of the game seem a lot more manageable, despite dealing with issues of suicide and sexual abuse.

The instrumentals by Shoji Meguro combine perfectly with the vocals by Lyn, creating a soundtrack that is equal parts quirky, epic and catchy. The standard battle theme, Last Surprise, is especially worthy of a mention. For a track the player will be hearing hundreds of times throughout the game, it manages to remain fresh the whole time. The boss themes are equally catchy but they also feel epic, which makes them stand out in a good way.

A game's soundtrack truly succeeds if it can be listened to without the game itself, and by that measure, Persona 5 is on track to have the finest collection of music across this whole year.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
