10 Reasons Star Wars Battlefront Is The Best Star Wars Game Ever
8. The Aerial Duels Are Great, Even On Their Small Scale
One of the more common fan criticisms about Star Wars Battlefront has been about the scale of the aerial battles. More specifically, people have been a bit miffed that even designated fighter battles take place just above the surface of a planet, rather than in the wider galaxy. Given that previous Star Wars games have allowed for space-based dogfights, it was deemed to be a failure that this wasn't included here.
In truth, however, there's a lot to be said for keeping the aerial action closer to the planets' surfaces. For one, it makes players have to actually think about the way they're careening around. Flying through massive open spaces would be great, but the only threats are other pilots or the occasional piece of loose debris. In Star Wars Battlefront, manoeuvres have to be much more careful and considered if you don't want to become another death by misadventure.
On top of this, the connection between fights in the atmosphere and the larger conflicts taking place on the surface captures the essence and scale of a great Star Wars battle. Finding yourself outnumbered by advancing enemies and facing impending death only to be saved by a swooping, friendly pilot is a terrific sight in Battlefront.
The multitude of battles taking place within each scenario is quite often breathtaking, and it's because of the soldiers' constant proximity to aerial combat that this is so effective.
