10 Reasons Watch Dogs 2 Is One Of The Best Sequels Ever
9. Ubisoft Ditched That Awfully Dour Tone
The shift in tone between the first Watch Dogs and the second was like the difference between night and day. The first game was dark and miserable, only offering up brief respites from this with occasional jokes and references.
Watch Dogs 2 on the other hand? One of the brightest and funniest open world adventures in a long time.
For starters, the colours of San Francisco when compared to Chicago are amazing. San Francisco is full of landmarks and greenery, as well as the lush blue sea. This makes the world genuinely fun to explore, a far cry from the grey and smoke of the first game.
The references and parodies within the game are also a highlight. The parody of Google, Nudle, plays an important role in the story and the explorable headquarters is one of the best locations in the game, spot on referencing Google. Even the parody of Knight Rider, Cyber Driver, is pretty funny and the typical talking car even makes a few funny references of its own.
Even the music is completely different from the first game. Instead of being indie beats with heavy guitars, the soundtrack this time features Deadmau5, Tower of Power and even Culture Club. It doesn't quite match the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto V or Saints Row, but it is definitely a major improvement.
