10 Reasons We Need Bloodborne 2 Instead Of Dark Souls 4
1. More Lovecraft
Needless to say, that Lovecraftian horror is criminally underused and rarely used excellently. But in the case of Bloodborne, they nailed that gripping, unsettling brilliance of the mad writer’s world to life. Drawing heavy inspiration from the author’s work, From captured the essence of his work perfectly, creating a genuinely gothic, Lovecraftian world. And we need more.
FromSoftware brought a lot of his iconic stories into life, most notably The Shadow Over Innsmouth, emulated in spirit through The Fishing Hamlet. With a wealth of brilliant and awe inspiringly creepy stories, FromSoftware could craft a masterpiece, bringing the stories to life as a lot of readers really want. For a game to perfectly mimic Lovecraft’s vision in a brilliant world and not continue it, is criminal.
We just need more Lovecraft in general and more games need to have the courage to use the madman’s writings as inspiration as they hold perfect narratives for stories to draw from. The Call of Cthulhu if handled correctly could transfer perfectly onto the Bloodborne formula and with enough creative tweaking could be the true representation of the god we need. And it would make Bloodborne even more epic than before!
I mean its Cthulhu… If there is one deity, you don’t want to piss off by not including him in a Lovecraft inspired game its Cthulhu. Tentacles and deep water are enough to convince you he means business!
