10 Reasons We Need Bloodborne 2 Instead Of Dark Souls 4
2. There Is Room To Experiment
The problem with Dark Souls is that it is so set in its roots that it’s become somewhat formulaic. And that’s not bad because despite Dark Souls 3 borrowing from a lot of its prior locations and its combat being a carbon copy, it’s still leagues ahead of some triple A titles. The only way for Dark Souls to offer up a really unique experience that is entirely fresh is to overhaul itself at the risk of fan backlash.
Bloodborne however Is open enough to still be developed and refined even further. New mechanics and abilities could slide easily into Bloodborne with little tweaking to make them work, whereas Dark Souls would be a far more obtuse game to do so to. Bloodborne could create that souls-like experience, but still be new and exciting. New spins on the trick weapons could add even more depth.
The point is that Bloodborne is more of an open book with room to be expanded on and tweaked, whereas Dark Souls is set in its roots. While that is alright, its clear that FromSoftware aren’t working on Dark Souls anymore so that they can develop new and more interesting ideas. Which means Bloodborne is a stellar opportunity to combine their love for the souls series and their need to innovate and do more exciting things.
And I for one would want to play whatever they can conjure up in Yharnam!
