8. Fun Talent Trees
Many games with extensive talent or skill trees tend to suffer from instilling within the player a particularly infuriating sense of helplessness; that is to say, you have to invest a lot of points and often don't feel like much is happening. Borderlands talents give you some pretty impressive rewards for the points you're investing. Yes, you will come across plenty of 'plus one percent' talents, but unlocking skills like the Siren's 'Phoenix' - causing nearby enemies to set on fire simply for standing in your vicinity - is just plain awesome fun.
