10 Reasons Why Aliens: Colonial Marines Is Worse Than A Face Hug

1. Fear Factor

Not only were they fighting against history, but Gearbox were fighting against a genre as well: Horror. Very few games can manage to pull it off, and none of those have been first person shooters. Clive Barker's Jericho failed, and while condemned and F.E.A.R. (Oh, the irony) managed to instill some tension, you were never really terrified. So, trying to marry the stalking slasher horror where nobody feels safe of Aliens, with the one man army ethic of an FPS was never really going to work either. It still could have been a very good game with a little bit of imagination, and a LOT more polish. But given the fact it's had a rocky road of development in these 8 years, and it comes off the back of a very good year for Gearbox, it's hard to shake the idea that maybe all their best ideas and efforts went into Borderlands 2...
