For a short spell, WWE games featured a 'GM Mode'. This part of the game allowed the user to take charge of either Raw or Smackdown, warring against the other brand. A year-end 'General Manager Of The Year' award was up for grabs, if the player managed to make his chosen show more successful than the opposition. Some of those elements could be prevalent in a 'Save WCW' mode. 2K would have to really amp up the realism on this one and pull back the curtain. However, WCW's financial woes are no great secret, neither are the incredible range of problems the promotion was facing towards the end of their run. It'd be earth-shattering to be tasked with turning the ship around, having to deal with all the ego, frostiness from management, and diminishing returns. Games such as the old Extreme Warfare Revenge text simulators have enabled fans to play this way, but it'd be gorgeous in fully-rendered form. Booking the shows using the existing WCW roster, players would have to meet certain financial targets, rewarded for popping big TV ratings and Pay-Per-View buyrates. It's far-fetched, but it'd be awesome. What other reasons can you think of for 2K Games making a WCW video game? Do you agree with the points discussed here?
