8. Older Generation Are A Core Market For WWE Games
Looking at the way WWE games have been marketed over the past few years, it becomes obvious what their target demographic is. Yes, children will want to play as the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton, but there's also another market entirely to glean cash from. Namely, those people who were playing wrestling video games back in the 1990's, when the industry was at an all-time high. In WWE '13, the 'Attitude Era' mode was on offer. This enabled players to go back and relive the moments that captivated them in their youth. Similarly, the 'Road To WrestleMania' feature did the same in WWE 2K14. The next title, WWE 2K16 contains an entire career retrospective for 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. The multi-time World Champion will also be on the cover of the game. Steve Austin retired in 2003, he hasn't wrestled a match since then. Even so, he's the focal point. That says a lot about the kind of people 2K are trying to attract with their games. Players love to go back and experience characters and moments from before, only this time with souped-up graphics and next-gen console hardware. WCW would be perfect for that, because it's never really been done before.
