10 Reasons You Need To Stop Being Snobby About Mobile Games
8. Cross-Platform Friendship Is Magic
Oh hey, send me your friendship code will ya? No wait I mean PSN account - no Xbox tag - actually your Steam username, um... XFire?
Whew, keeping track of friends across games and platforms is kind of annoying, but you know who’s leading the charge for change? That’s right: Mobile gaming.
With integration through Facebook (yeah, not ideal) and Google (privacy issues much?) you don’t need to input separate email addresses, usernames or flipping codes (come on Nintendo!). If your friends are playing, they’re right there on the screen under a “Social” tab and can be easily pestered to your heart's content.
Whilst not yet perfect, no one else has a vested interest in making sure you and your many friends, acquaintances and those idiots from work can compare scores, achievements or ask for/receive help in games. Already, there are plenty of mobile games that can cross the iOS/Android divide, and until Microsoft and Sony make good on their hints at cross platform functionality, we’re not gonna get much closer to a glorious utopian future where platforms aren’t a factor in playing with friends.
