10 Reasons You Should Play This Generation's Worst Video Games
6. Metal Gear Survive
I feel as if Metal Gear Survive falls into the same category as Fallout 76 and Mass Effect: Andromeda, in light of a player’s potential motivation for playing the game. If you put Fallout, Metal Gear or Call of Duty in the title of your game, people are going to play it, no matter the quality.
There is no result where resting on the laurels of your franchise is enough to hold up the individual project, especially when your name is Konami and you appear to be in a blood feud with the franchise’s original creator.
Metal Gear Survive is a survival-crafting game with a weird focus on a convoluted narrative about wormholes and zombies. Sure, Metal Gear was never the most coherent thing in the world but some have argued Survive is somewhat of an F-you to the franchise. Lifeless and tedious, it’s not something you’d choose over any other game in the series.
Hideo Kojima poured his heart into the Metal Gear franchise. Whether you love him and the series or hate them, there is quality, innovation and uniqueness throughout. That, is the only reason why I could understand, maybe not even encourage, someone to experience Metal Gear Survive, out of respect for the series and what it turned into.
