9. Ultramarathon - Dying Light 2 Stay Human

There are some absurdly time-consuming achievements that at least come with a major sense of accomplishment, as they push the player's skill and mettle to the absolute limit.

And then there are blatant time sink, busy-work ones like Dying Light 2's "Ultramarathon" achievement, which requires you to travel at least 960km.

During conventional play, players have reported taking more than 200 hours to pop the 'cheev, putting it far outside the wheelhouse of a solid 99% of players. Literally, given that only 1% of players have actually unlocked it to date.

It was however eventually discovered that falling distance counts as "travel," and players could "simply" use a rubber band to make themselves continually fall while idle, though even this method was calculated to take around 10 days to complete.

Basically, Ultramarathon is a textbook example of a developer coming up with a patently ridiculous, even unfair achievement that only sought to waste players' time and run up their electricity bill.

Despite vocal fan complaints, developer Techland still hasn't nerfed it to a more reasonable distance.
