10 Recent Video Game Levels That Made You Rage Quit
4. Bloodborne - Central Yarnham
BloodBorne is the triumphant successor to Dark Souls, famed as much for its in-depth lore and memorable creature design as its high level of difficulty.
The game lets the player know from the very first level that it will only get harder. The first level is usually the easing in period, and yet the game throws everything at you here. So much so, that in an opening set piece, you are expected to die, unarmed, in a one sided fight against a werewolf.
The action properly kicks into gear when you arrive into Central Yarnham. The shortcuts are few and far between, meaning if you die, you have to fight the same hordes of enemies over and over again until you eventually progress.
Enemies are numerous, often hiding round corners or in a dark alley, overwhelming the player in a few hits. One wrong move can leave the character swarmed by lots of angry, diseased villagers.
If you are with the game to this point, you will likely crumble when you reach the first boss, The Cleric Beast. However, he is a topic for a future list!
