Though it doesn't have the distinction of being the first ever superhero game to be released (That distinction goes to Superman back in 1979!), this was the first Marvel game to be licensed and released on home consoles back in 1982. The platform, the mighty Atari 2600.

Spider-Man has easily been gaming's most popular Marvel Property, with games released on practically every console ever.

Now everybody will always remember the best, stuff like Spider-Man vs Kingpin on the Mega Drive, Spider-Man 2 on PS2, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensons on Xbox 360, and of course the scintillating Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4. But few remember the first.

Some reading this article might not have even been born when this game was released, and for those who don't recall, it's essentially a bit like playing Donkey Kong. Using your web sling skills you have to make your way up bigger and bigger buildings until you have the opportunity to face off against one of spidey's biggest foes, the Green Goblin.
