The story of the Infinity Gauntlet has been been enshrined in the halls of greatness of two mediums. The comic book arc 'The Infinity Gauntlet' started it all, and the combined efforts of the MCU resulting in the emphatic Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

But a long time before that Avengers double header even got close to telling the story of Thanos the Mad Titan, there was a little game called Marvel Super Heroes In War of the Gems.

A Super Nintendo release in 1996, War of the Gems allows you to play as either Captain America, Spidey, Wolverine, Hulk, or Iron Man, after Adam Warlock calls upon them to find the infinity stones before they fall into the wrong hands. The end boss, a classic looking Thanos.

If you like your games as sidescrolling beat 'em ups, then War of the Gems is a great slice of Marvel nostalgia to revisit. Good luck finding a legit cartridge copy for cheap though, so start saving those pennies.
