The Underdark is a weird and dangerous place. Soon your parties going to be so jumpy there going to be killing things without thinking. But not everything down here is inherently dangerous. The Flumph is just trying to get by as best it can.

This odd-looking creature has innate psychic abilities. It can read the mind and emotions of any creature in its vicinity. It also feeds on psionic energy, taking on the creature's thoughts and memories as it feeds. This often leaves the creature it fed on completely unaware.

Because of these abilities, a Flumph can be an adventurer’s best friend. If they hear what they consider an evil thought, they will tell a good-aligned creature to clear their conscience. They also change their colours to reflect emotions, if you see a herd of red Flumphs you know an evil creature is nearby. This could be Drow or even the dreaded Mind Flayers.

Flumphs are not known for their combat prowess but are respected for their intelligence and knowledge. Wise scholars and philosophers often search them out. Remember, when your adventuring “always trust a Flumph.”
