Known for their light-hearted attitude towards the development of their games, Neversoft's Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 was typically hare-brained. Many of the missions seemed to pertain very little to skateboarding, for example frantically racing through an airport to deliver some tickets or ramming into poor Chuck who has somehow managed to get his tongue stuck to an icy, metal pole. It may sound trivial, but the slick gameplay which was retained from the previous installment in the series meant that Pro Skater 3 was one of the finest Tony Hawks games ever made. The unbelievably good soundtrack featured such classics as Motörheads Ace Of Spades, The Ramoness Blitzkrieg Bop and Adolescents Amoeba and meant you could skate while bopping your head to the long list of superb rock and hip-hop tracks. The game also featured several bizarre cameo characters to be unlocked after achieving certain goals. The highlight of these was Darth Maul from the Star Wars series who could be unlocked after completing all 54 goals and gaining gold medals on Career mode while playing as the titular Tony Hawk. We know from that incredible lightsaber battle the Sith had with the combined force of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn that he had some incredible footwork and balance, but we never thought hed use these skills to further his skateboarding career.
