2. Akuma Is A Playable Character - Resident Evil 2
Yep, it's EGM again folks with another of their April Fool's Day pranks, as they purported that we would be able to play as Street Fighter's Akuma - a character they ironically helped create after starting a rumour in 1992 - in Capcom's brilliant Resident Evil 2. They suggested that by completing the game with an A rank on all the scenarios, using just a handgun and a knife, you would start a new game as the character. It's actually pretty clever as far as hoaxes go; not only were some relatively convincing images placed in the EGM Magazine (as above), but given how infuriating Akuma is to fight in the Street Fighter games, it's seen as a relief to
use him to fight bad guys. EGM dragged their lie out, claiming that Akuma could kill zombies with fireballs and didn't need a key for any room (which doesn't really make sense, but whatever), but alas, it never proved to be true, as cool as it would have been.
