Whilst the fourth in the series is the one that uses them most visibly (or obnoxiously), it's impossible to talk about ridiculous quick time events without also giving a shout out to Resident Evil 5. That particular instalment in the franchise was overshadowed with not-unreasonable claims of racism - doesn't look good to have a couple of white characters drop into South Africa and start beating up the savage black population - and the further removal of any actual horror with the co-op mode, but its QTEs should not be ignored. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xuXkVzBdJQ Especially when it includes ones as gloriously stupid as Chris Redfield trying to move a boulder. Whilst trapped in some sort of volcano lair that Blofeld would kill for (and probably did, that guy has no scruples at all). At first it seems like the game is trying to get across that, y'know, it's impossible for even a fairly well built adult man to move a friggin' boulder. Except as the player continues to mash buttons as per the game's instructions, and Chris starts not only to shove but uppercut the huge rock, it becomes clear he will actually move it. And he does. And it's one of the most ridiculous things to ever happen in the history of Resident Evil, which is saying a lot.
