10 Ridiculous Video Games Based On Horror Movies
7. World Of Horror
The most recent entry to this list and one that will release properly later in 2020, World of Horror is a game that takes the creepy works of Junji Ito and puts them to work in a rougelite RPG, so for any fans of Uzumaki or the Tomie series - this is the game for you.
Whilst not a direct adaptation, World of Horror takes on all the inherent weirdness of Ito's original comic art style by delivering a game crafted entirely in black and white pixels as put together on Microsoft Paint, depicting a world ruled by Old Gods and ravaged by Lovecraftian nightmares. It's a compilation of inspirations, celebrating all things spooky by sticking you in a small Japanese town that's slowly losing its sanity.
Undeniably creepy at first glance, and growingly unsettling as you venture further into this unhinged world, that special brand of Ito body horror should be enough to convince anyone to take some time with this freaky little gem. Ridiculous doesn't always mean bad, after all.
World of Horror is definitely one of the better Ito-based games, but if you want a straight adaptation, then why not try spreading spiral-madness in Uzumaki: Noroi Simulation instead?
