Resident Evil has never been a particularly coherent series. Of course, Capcom makes it, so this comes as no surprise. But even with the franchises' tangled mess of canon, few people expected Resident Evil 5 to have Chris Redfield go one round in the ring with a boulder, in a volcano, all while fighting antagonist Wesker. It's as if Capcom replaced its board of executives with the cast of the Expendables following the success of Resident Evil 4, which at least had the wherewithal to recognize how nonsensical it is. By the same logic, we can assume the board was populated entirely by chimpanzees for the development of Resident Evil 6. To get back to things, Resident Evil 5 asks you to pluck missiles out of the air with your bare hands and then throw them back like like the world's most dangerous game of catch. Who wants to throw a grenade at a bulletproof crab monster when you can literally punch one into its face? Naturally, Capcom needed the right triceps for the job, and Sheva certainly wasn't going to do it; she was far too busy diving headlong into hordes of enemies when she wasn't walking into walls.
