10 Ridiculously Macho Video Game Characters

3. Grayson Hunt - Bulletstorm

Sometimes it's clear from the onset that a game is ridiculous. Insomniac's recent Sunset Overdrive is unabashedly bonkers, Platinum Game's forthcoming Xbox One exclusive Scalebound seems to exceed the Richter scale, and with a protagonist named Grayson Hunt, Bulletstorm isn't hiding its roots either. He may as well be Rick McLightning. At least Bulletstorm, a game positively caked in virility and the outlandish, is a good home for him. Then again, most shooters would be. Aptly titled, Bulletstorm openly invites overkill and brutality in ways that modern visuals make an absolute joy to behold. The tools of the trade feel like Resistance via Splatterhouse and include such classics as the Penetrator and Boneduster. Judging from what they do to enemies - see: electricified disembowelment, spontaneous implosion, and guillotine rollercoaster - Grayson Hunt, and by extension all Bulletstorm residents, probably shave with a combine harvester and scramble their eggs by shouting at them.

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games? Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
