10 RPG Video Game Fates Worse Than Death
7. Sealed Away For Eternity - Mother 3
To some people, escaping death seems like the best idea ever. But, if Porky Minch, the antagonist of Mother 3, can teach us anything, it's that making a mockery of death will leave you in a far worse place.
This character's "final" moments come after you engage with him in an epic boss battle. The villainous scamp attacks you from inside his bed mecha suit, but once you hit your stride and tear down his health, he whips out his next card and jumps inside his "Absolutely Safe Capsule."
So, what does an "Absolutely Safe Capsule" entail? Well, it does what it says on the tin.
Porky is entirely safe inside this machine, as no one can attack him, he cannot experience harm, and he won't age. But the catch-22 is that he also cannot attack you and can't ever get out.
If the goal was to stay alive, then, well done Porky, you got what you wanted. However, it doesn't take long to realise this is a horrendous fate. Porky will live until the end of time in that thing with nothing to do, no one to talk to, no way of getting out, and no space to move in.
Immortality sounds fun on paper, but this is about as far away from fun as it gets.
