8. Ganados

Everything was fine until the poor folk in a remote part of Spain caught a plague - or Plagas - and turned into what were called Los Ganados - literally the sheep or the herd. The parasite is able to control their minds, and unlike zombies, ganados have elementary intelligence and can do things for themselves. They are fiercely loyal to their commander Osmund Saddler who controls them by high frequency noise levels. The Ganados are frequently suicidal in their attempts to kill Leon. They will pursue him bitterly to the end, suffering no apparent pain as Leon hits them with his arsenal of guns. They were an interesting change to zombies and I think RE4 worked well but the Ganados were not particularly scary villains - they were not scary like zombies and they marked the decline in scariness of the monsters in the RE franchise. RE5 and 6 may have been exciting to play as action games, but the monsters were not a patch on the earlier efforts. The creepiness was took out of the game.
