10 Scariest Enemies In Non-Horror Games
8. Monster Ock - Spider-Man
Comic books, and video game adaptations thereof, do enjoy experimenting with different variations of familiar characters. In the universe of Spider-Man in particular, Monster Ock is perhaps the most horrifying ever. This abomination appears as the final boss of Spider-Man’s PS1, born when the Carnage symbiote infects a previously-defeated Doc Ock.
It was a bold move to essentially add a character to the broader canon just for this 2000 PS1 title, and it’s similarly impressive that it turned out to be one of the most formidable Spider-Man has ever encountered. There aren’t environmental objects to make use of to expose a weak point, or any of the other tricks our friend Peter likes to employ against his larger foes. This is less of a boss fight and more of a simple chase sequence.
Spider-Man can’t harm Monster Ock at all, and can only flee for his life in a super high pressure and rather lengthy parkour session. Monster Ock howls, taunts, and chases you throughout, and is never far behind. It’s a difficult encounter indeed, and a second's hesitation or a mistimed jump will spell your instant demise.
