10 Scariest Metal Gear Solid Boss Fights

7. Night Fright

Before the days of 3D graphics, creating truly terrifying villains was something of a problem. There's only so much developers can do with basic pixels after all.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, released all the way back in 1990, managed to come up with a pretty terrifying adversary for fans of the early series game to take on when they introduced Night Fright. The Vietnamese mercenary, known as the Phantom Assassin is an expert in guerrilla warfare.

With his stealth camouflage and silent machine gun, Night Fright could pop up anywhere and even struck fear into Snake's expert support team. Those early systems may not have been able to craft terrifying sprites, but Night Fright set the stage for stealth-oriented bosses in later Metal Gear games.
