10 Scariest Video Game DLCs Ever

9. Fallout New Vegas - Dead Money

Dead By Daylight
Bethesda Softworks

As far as horror games go, Fallout probably wouldn’t rank in most people’s top ten most terrifying playthroughs. It’s not really what the franchise is about, when it comes down to it. Fallout New Vegas was no exception to this rule but people were left pleasantly surprised when the Dead Money DLC came along.

Centring around the long-since fallen casino resort (Sierra Madre), this DLC excels in atmosphere, utilising its sunset-tinted aesthetics and jarring sound to unnerve the player at every turn. Stripping back the armour, weapons and allowances for useful pickups, the player is left feeling comparatively helpless.

Though not compatible with everyone’s ideal style of play, it’s a pretty well-known phenomenon that when left exposed the player will feel more on-edge. Combine this with its (literally) haunting enemies and the fear of the unknown in this unprecedented take on the Fallout franchise, and you’ve got a winning formula.
