10 Scariest Video Game Moments Of The Generation
8. Ghost Events - Phasmophobia
When I first booted up Phasmophobia after seeing corners of the internet explode with praise for this indie horror title, I'm not going to lie, I was a bit underwhelmed.
The presentation left a lot to be deisred, the menus seemed as barebones as it's tutorial and it seemed for long stetches of time that I was doing everything wrong but not being shown how to correct these mistakes.
Then I saw a small child with no features other than a massive mouth full of teeth and promptly s**t the figurative bed. This one moment chilled me to my core, not because I was the one witnessing it first hand, but because it appeared on a camera my team had set up, and when I tried to radio through to them, the electronics were garbled by the spirit and all I could do was watch.
It circled around my team who were panicking in their own right, and as I tried everything I could to help out, the little girl got closer, until finally it dissappeared.
That's when I understood this game, and while it's still clunky, it's delivered some of the best jump scares and tense moments of the last few years.
