I said back at the start that it was a shame that not enough people played Alien: Isolation, yet that sentiment goes doubly so for Control.
I know Quantum Break was a bit duff, but Control more than makes up for it.
It's hard to put into words what Sam Lake's latest effort is. Part Twin Peaks, sort of Men In Black, a sprinkle of Hellboy's Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense and ties to the Alan Wake universe, it's got a lot going for it.
And you know what?
It pulls it off. The adventures of Jesse Faden in the Oldest House are incredible. Seeing the building shift as you explore its many nooks and crannies, the nature of AWE's and the gunplay is a phenomenal blend that works well together.
With one of two story add-ons available, and the other later this year, it's well worth getting stuck into.
A Metroidvania in the traditional sense, gameplay in the third person, it's a shame Control seems to have dropped off the radar.
But in this downtime, why not engross yourself in some mind-bending sci-fi?
