6. Ingrid's Necklace - Resident Evil Village (2021)
Before players
set foot in the eponymous village in the eight mainline Resident Evil game,
they got a chance to explore the castle section during the Maiden demo. Instead
of playing as protagonist Ethan Winters, however, players took on the role of
Ingrid, a young woman attempting to escape from Castle Dimitrescu.
While making their way from the creepy dungeons, players will eventually discover a necklace made of animal bone belonging to Ingrid that was taken from her before she was imprisoned. While Ingrid manages to recover her property, her escape attempt is less successful. Before she can leave the castle, she’s captured by the domineering Lady Dimitrescu at the end of the demo.
Although Ingrid is implied to have been killed, her true fate is revealed in the main game.
Upon arriving at the same area of the castle, Ethan finds himself fighting through enemies known as Moroaică. These enemies were victims of the castle’s matriarch, who were transformed into vampire-like husks after having their blood drained to make the Dimitrescu’s signature wine.
When Ingrid's necklace is looted from the body of one of these enemies, players learn that the demo's eponymous maiden underwent a fate that was far worse than death.
