10 Secret Levels In Iconic Video Games You Totally Missed

6. RAGE - The Quake Room

RAGE may not have been the all-singing, all torso-'sploding shooter developer iD Software needed it to be, but that didn't stop them having some fun when it came to paying tribute to the franchises that got them where they are today. Sure they worked on not only Quake but Doom too, but it's tracking down a nod to the former where you'll need to activate a series of hidden switches to open a warp-gate that can deposit you in the right place. It's incredibly well-hidden unless you've already developed a penchant for crouch-walking around areas to find tucked-away switches, but in the Wasted Garage level, take a look across the second, third and fourth floors and push the red buttons that look fairly inconspicuous. Upon returning to the original second floor you'll notice the legendary Quake symbol on the wall, the corresponding staircase taking you to a portal that drops you slap-bang in the middle of one of the best hidden levels of all time. Modelled after the Quake menu screen, there's even a small plushie version of a Shambler in the centre, alongside a lava pool and some original (blocky as hell) texture maps of demon faces on the walls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1yLUh8JW4c Pretty awesome.
