10 Secret Levels In Iconic Video Games You Totally Missed

7. Castlevania - The Inverted Castle

It's great when a game as old as Castlevania can still surprise you, as although Konami's legendary Metroid-twinning behemoth became the blueprint for every subsequent gothic action-RPG (Dark Souls' caged elevators are clearly a little nod to those seen here), it's this 1997 original that features an entire section of the castle thousands of us totally missed first time through. First up you need to track down both Silver and Gold Rings, to which journeying to the area with the large clock will cause it to activate and gong, opening another lower passage, where at the end of which you'll obtain an item called the 'Holy Glasses'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBWqMeQU9XE Now, providing you did all of this before you fight Richter, thanks to equipping the glasses you'll then see a floating orb above him - one that if you attack instead of Richter, will transport you to the 'Inverted Castle', opening up an entire other half of the game complete with more secret rooms and passages to uncover. This is the only way to get the 200.6% completion stat, and just to give you extra incentive to explore, there are two more endings to uncover based on whether you fight Dracula with 199.1% completion or below.
