The endings of Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines fit with the dark theme of the World of Darkness universe as they put your character in a pretty dire situation, turning them into the prime target of pretty much every single vampire group in Los Angeles.

To make the misery of your situation worse, the game even takes several things from you, including your haven, the ability to safely walk the street, and Heather, the young girl who decides to become your character's ghoul after you save her life in the first act of the game.

If you make Heather into your ghoul, the vampiric equivalent of a servant, her death is inevitable in each of the game's finales, as she is kidnapped by the Sabbat and subsequently killed.

However, you can secretly save her life by simply forcing her to go away.

To do so, you have to tell Heather to leave and never come back before the Prince calls a hit on you. The girl won't be seen in the game's finale, but because of that, her life will be saved.

She will get upset with you, of course, but considering the alternative, letting go of her is definitely the better choice.
