10 Seemingly Pointless Video Game Choices That Have Surprising Consequences
4. The Mystery Of The Provost - Wasteland 3
Wasteland 3 is full of hidden locales and Easter egg mysteries, but only one of them will have you scratching your head for almost the entire game!
Aside from your regular companions, Wasteland 3 allows you to recruit side characters, who are usually tamed wildlife.
"Usually," because you can also recruit the Provost, a mysterious man who only speaks Latin.
The Provost is located in a hidden room underneath the Bazaar. As soon as you decide to interact with him, he will join your team and follow you everywhere you go.
Since he only speaks in cryptic Latin sentences, it's hard to understand why he does it, so most players will simply use him as a meat shield and let him die.
However, if you keep the provost alive until you reach the Snow Inn Resort, you can find a coin of Minerva there, which will immediately trigger your Latin friend to direct you to a remote location off the edge of the map, where, should you follow him, he will reveal he is a member of the Illuminati and award you with an extremely rare achievement!
It's a long and convoluted process, but then again, what else would you expect out of a shadowy organization running the world?
