1. Jay-Son! Heavy Rain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wL-jj3MX6k Before we go down this path, Id just like to make it clear that losing your child in a busy shopping mall is not a laughing matter. However, Heavy Rain manages to make it so. The chapter immediately after the games prologue/tutorial sees the Mars family head to their local shopping mall. Central character Ethan (the dad of the family) is given one simple job to look after his son Jason. Only problem is, hes completely incapable of doing so. Jason wanders off (presumably to find a responsible adult who can actually care for him) leaving Ethan to search through the packed mall for him. Does he search quietly and quickly? No. Instead, he moves around yelling Jay-Son! at the top of his voice. Frequently. There was seemingly only one sample recorded for the line too, so despite the drama increasing through the backing score, Ethans Jay-Son! remains surprisingly calm. It all ends in tragedy but for a brief time, youre a guy wandering through a mall, pressing X to shout Jay-Son! and its hilarious. Of course, there are plenty of other serious moments in video games that ended up being hilarious. If you can think of any other great examples, feel free to put them in the comments below.
