10 Severely Underrated Spider-Man Games You Must Play
2. The Amazing Spider-Man
Gamers have plenty of reasons to be wary of any games that are billed as movie tie-ins, since they regularly fail to deliver as both a good game and as a faithful companion to their namesake movies. Raimi's Spidey movies had some good examples, however, and Marc Webb's initial reboot can also boast the same. The Amazing Spider-Man took the exciting free-roam elements of the likes of Spider-Man 2 and added the story driven sections of more recent Spidey titles. The villains were diverse and challenging, with each of the conflicts playing out in different ways and demanding different approaches. The game also does a very good job of treading around the story of the movie, without ever stifling or spoiling it. It somehow manages to exist both within and independently of the events of the movie, which is certainly no mean feat! Whatever you do, however, do not expect the game's sequel to be a forward step in any way, shape or form. I'm still extremely frustrated by the faithful hours I wasted on that shoddy excuse for a next-gen game!!
