10 Severely Underrated Spider-Man Games You Must Play
9. Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage
As one of many side-scrolling Spider-Man games from the late 20th century, it's hard to imagine that a title like Maximum Carnage could really stand out against the crowd. It manages to do so, however, through some subtle differences to many of the other 16-bit examples available at the time. Firstly - and perhaps obviously, given the title - players get to control either Spider-Man or Venom in their quest to stop the maniac Carnage from taking over the city's criminal underworld. Each of these plays with slightly different strengths for each stage, as well as unique power ups that can be activated at various points in the levels. These even include summoning aid from other heroes at times, with their effectiveness differing depending on who the player was controlling at the time. The story itself is also fairly engrossing for a side-scroller, and the Spidey/Venom team-up tale is just one of may reasons why Carnage simply has to make his way into a Spider-Man movie someday...
