10 Shocking Incidents Where Video Games Led To Real Life Death

8. The Parents Who Sold Three Children To Fund Online Gaming

This is an entry whereby the fate of the children is not confirmed, but because of the very nature of the incident and the likelihood of where they ended up, it's highly unlikely that anything positive came of them. Just three years ago a Chinese couple decided that selling their children instead of raising them would benefit their own lives far more, as they received $4600 each for their two boys, and around $500 for their daughter. According Eurogamer the couple stated that they "didn't know they were breaking the law" and instead admitted they couldn't raise the children appropriately, therefore giving them away was a better option. Both Li Lin and Li Juan were only found out when Lin's mother realised the horror of what was happening and phoned the police. To this day the most logical assumption on what happened to the children is that they are now working in one of the many factories around the country for a pittance.
