10 Shocking Incidents Where Video Games Led To Real Life Death

6. This Man Who Overdid It On The Wii Fit

In 2009 Wii Fit's were all the rage as Nintendo succeeded in getting the world on board, shaking our hips and looking like idiots as we thought the pounds were just dropping off. One man however was the victim of just how accessible these games are at being afternoon time-killers. One Tim Eves sadly became the victim of his own dedication after one of the many strenuous jogging levels was too much for his apparently ailing heart. Even though he was a normal healthy adult, upon taking to the Fit board and playing for a short amount of time, he suddenly collapsed, never to stand up again. Fox News reports that the cause of death was the playing of the Wii, and that of "Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome", which is a "genetic heart condition cause sudden death in young, apparently healthy people." Very scary stuff, and one that stands out as having no immediate method of prevention either, we can only make sure we take plenty of breaks when engaging in extended sessions on physically-intensive games.
