10 Shocking Video Game Moments Players CHOSE To See
1. Persona 4 Golden - Accomplice Ending
Persona 4 is widely considered one of the best RPGs ever made. Launching in 2008 on PS2, you played a high-school student that’s recently moved to Inaba, a fictional rural town. Working together with school friends, you become involved in solving a string of murders, whilst harnessing your newfound Persona abilities.
It later saw a re-release in 2012, bringing extra content such as new social links and an expanded story. One of these social links focused on Toru Adachi, and with this came a new, non-canonical ending.
To unlock, players had to max out their social link with Adachi by spending time with him. It then comes to a point in December where the player must name who they believe is the killer.
If you click Adachi and then withhold this information, the mystery remains unsolved, but it doesn’t end there.
On your final day in Inaba, the protagonist will then visit Adachi, confirming they know it was him, and then destroy crucial evidence in order to protect him. It's a monstrous act, and despite helping him, Adachi ends up blackmailing you.
It doesn’t make much sense in the wider
plot and it ends seeing you leave Inaba with Adachi's twisted smile as you do so. But when you go out of your
way to defend a murderer, karma bites backs swiftly
