10 Sidelined Nintendo Characters That Deserve Their Own Game

Some characters hidden in the shadows should get their moment of glory too.

If there's one complaint Nintendo receives more than anything else, it's that they use the same characters over and over again. Whether it's Mario, Link or Pikachu, there's only a handful of mascots that the Japanese giant seem to utilise, yet there's so many other amazing characters that have shown up in their various masterpieces that have more than enough charm to head up their own game. In a generation where gamers are beginning to feel the weight of repetition and mascots are starting to creak slightly more with each iteration, maybe it's time to delve into the lesser known characters that could easily bear the weight of a franchise of their own. It's time to take those that stole the show in their sidekick roles and make them stars in their own right. This brings about the possibility of not only new main characters in the Nintendo roster, but also new kinds of gameplay experiences thanks to their different skill-sets and personalities. Since smaller, more niché titles are showing up more and more in the digital gaming space, there's no better time than now for Nintendo to take some chances on their secondary characters - especially the ones that are just screaming for an adventure of their very own.
