10 Sidelined Nintendo Characters That Deserve Their Own Game
2. Professor Oak
Professor Oak doesn't make any sense. He tells players at the start of Pokemon Red and Blue that he has been researching Pokemon for all of his life, before giving you a completely empty Pokedex to fill up. Hey, hey, Doc... what've you been researching all this time? Our character is a ten year old and he seems to get more done in six minutes than Professor Oak's entire life. This is heartbreaking, because Oak is actually a beloved character, having been the man who set us off on our first adventure in the world of Pokemon. So, wouldn't it be a great idea to offer the good Professor redemption by giving him his own game where he gets to make all those great discoveries about the world that he failed to actually tell us about? It could be set in a time when Pokemon weren't the domesticated pets that they are in the series, a time where they were a mysterious entity that one man, nay, one professor, decided to finally discover and understand the true nature of Pokemon.
A young man with a hairy face. Will often tell you that winter is coming before retreating to his mancave to play video games with a wooly jumper at the ready, just in case.
