10 Simple Facts Most Gamers Don't Know
9. The Final Wii Games Were Released In 2020
Nintendo formally discontinued the phenomenally successful Wii console back in October 2013 after more than seven years on the market, but would you believe that the final games for the console were only released last year?
Famously, Ubisoft continued to release the Just Dance series on the Wii until the 2020 edition in late 2019, due to its continued commercial performance on the console.
But the true swan song for the hardware came on July 9, 2020, when ports of Retro City Rampage DX+ and Shakedown: Hawaii were released for the Wii as a 3,000-copy limited run in Europe.
Naturally the announcement quickly went viral, as players around the world expressed shock that it was even logistically possible to create and release games for the Wii anymore, especially with it being succeeded since by both the Wii U and the Switch.
RIP Nintendo Wii. Long live the Wii.
