8. Resident Evil Holds The Guinness World Record For "Worst Game Dialogue Ever"
It's no secret at all that the original Resident Evil features some of the most infamously ropey dialogue in video game history.
Immortal one-liners like "You were almost a Jill sandwich!" and "You, the master of unlocking..." have kept players firmly amused for the last 25 years, but more than that, they've earned the game a most surprising distinction.
The 2008 volume of the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition made a rather strange departure from the recordkeepers' tendency to state only objective statistics in their record books, by giving the original Resident Evil a special award for "Worst Game Dialogue Ever."
There's certainly an argument to be made that few, if any, AAA games have demonstrably worse dialogue, but even so, it's still a matter of opinion, and to see it given an official(ish) designation in the Guinness World Records of all places is frankly shocking.
