10 Sports That Deserve Truly Great Video Games

10. Cricket

Official statistics suggest that cricket is the second most popular sport on earth as far as estimated fanbases go. It's suggested that a whopping 2.5 billion take an active interest in the various forms of the game, so it's hardly a stretch to think that a good number would be keen on a video game too.

Sadly, however, that proportion have been woefully underserved over the years. Cricket games have been notoriously difficult. Back in Sega Mega Drive days there was a semi-successful attempt with Brian Lara Cricket, but twenty one years is definitely too long to wait for a good new game based on a sport that's undergone so much change in the same time.

With the addition of Twenty20 to the popular forms of the sport, cricket has a brash, exciting offering that lends itself perfectly to a video game iteration. Of course versions of Test and ODI should find their way onto consoles, but Twenty20 is the showpiece that, if captured more realistically (and with far less bugs) than in 2014's Don Bradman Cricket, could truly steal the show!
