10 Steam Machine Games That'll Make PS4 & Xbox One Owners Jealous
9. Rust
The vast, hostile multiplayer survival game from the maker of Garry's Mod grew quickly to become one of the most popular games on Steam, revealing that plenty of gamers out there have a taste for torturing themselves. You start the game with nothing but a rock, and need to gather resources, hunt for food, and build yourself a shelter The simple goal is to survive, which is made harder by the fact that the large maps are home to hundreds of other players, most of whose first reaction upon meeting you will be to put a bullet in your head or clobber you with a rock. Rust is permadeath too, and if you die you'll lose everything on your person. To get a foothold in the game, you'll need to build shelters and storage crates to keep your items in beyond death, though these too can be broken into and raided by other players. The joy of Rust comes in its challenge, and it's best to go into it with a friend (who won't shoot you in the back and run off with your stuff at the nearest opportunity). Even seemingly menial things like wooden shacks and handguns are invaluable assets here, and crucial to your survival in a world that's for the most part populated by people who care little for your welfare.
