10 Story-Based Shooters That Were Better Than BioShock Infinite

3. The Darkness 2

The Darkness 2 asylum A game so criminally overlooked it could have been a prison snitch, The Darkness 2 tells the tale of a Mafia Don's decent into madness following the murder of his childhood sweetheart. Pleasingly for the player, this particular Don has the ability to manifest heart-eating hyrda heads and car-flipping tendrils from his spine whenever the lights go out. Or so he thinks. This perfectly told, personal, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest-type tale makes this game absolutely enthralling. The 'is he/isn't he' a real demonic overlord story is flawlessly unravelled, and his frequent waking up in a mental institution where his deceased girlfriend appears to be one of the nurses makes it almost impossible to know for sure. The climactic decision you're required to make before the credits roll will mean this game stays with you long after you've finished.
