10 Strongest Non-Boss Enemies In The Legend Of Zelda Franchise
9. Big Octo
Previous games’ octoroks were nothing short of saps. Ugly mollusks, they were the architects of their own demise, spitting projectiles which Link could easily volley back at them to shut off the lights. A minor annoyance at worst.
The Wind Waker threw up a whole different sort of challenge. The Great Sea is a perilous place, and this is never more true than when Link is accosted by a dreadful Big Octo. These colossal squid are a destructive force, ready to seize the hero and his little boat and chuck them both to the edge of the sprawling map.
Fighting these monsters is a race against the clock, Discover one in the ocean and they'll summon a whirlpool, sucking you ever closer. Link must pepper their eyes with projectiles in order to survive. The Big Octos can boast as many as 12 eyes, so this can be a tall order against the clock.
The cinematic quality of these deep sea battles makes the tentacled beasts all the more cool. As the rain lashes down and the lightning strikes, Link feels all the more insignificant in the expanse of the sea - until he finally thwarts the monster like a true hero.
